A new website that's full of fruity flavor

for Dulcinea Farms & Pacific Trellis Fruit

Pacific Trellis Fruit began in 1999 as a grower and importer of grapes and stone fruit. Dulcinea Farms was a premier grower of flavorful melon varieties before being purchased by Pacific Trellis Fruit in 2014. The Dulcinea brand has since been applied to a number of different kinds of fruit, from grapes grown in Peru, Mexico, and Chile, to citrus fruits, cherries, and stone fruit in addition to those original melon varieties. Pacific Trellis Fruitand, by extension, Dulcineais dedicated to providing delicious fruit year-round and has grower partners around the world helping to make that happen.

Website Redesign

Although it was bright and used great photos wherever possible, the old website for Dulcinea Farms/Pacific Trellis Fruit was very simple and lacked a fully realized design concept. When we started the design process, we knew we were still going to use the company's fruit-inspired branding colors, but our task was to pull everything into a real design rather than a collection of images with occasional colorful splashes. We added more interesting animation throughout, made sure to showcase the company's tasty fruit wherever we could, and set Dulcinea up with a website that was contemporary, vibrant, and polished.

Products

With such a variety of wonderful fruits in supply, it would be a shame not to have a section of Dulcinea's website dedicated specifically to spotlighting each and every one. The Melons, Grapes, Stone Fruit, Cherries, and Citrus pages on the website not only list the different kinds of each that Dulcinea Farms/Pacific Trellis Fruit has in supply during any season of the year, but also nutritional information (including cute icons for added interest) and related recipes. And thanks to our use of the easy-to-use Umbraco CMS, we were able to develop these pages in a way that made them easy to edit in case Dulcinea's product line changed.

Recipes

Recipes are often the cornerstone of any produce website because they perfectly illustrate how to use the produce being sold (often with mouthwatering pictures to inspire visitors to go to their local grocery store and pick up whatever the product may be) and provide quality content that can help with Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Dulcinea Farms/Pacific Trellis Fruit continued this trend with over sixty different recipes using the different fruit varieties they sell, all categorized properly and easy to browse.

Timeline & Map

Finding methods for displaying facts in an engaging way when designing and developing websites is always a challenge, but it's a challenge we're happy to meet. When we're presented with some dataa timeline of events in a company's history, for examplewe like finding new and interesting ways to present that data to site visitors. For Dulcinea, we added animation to their timeline to make it a little more fun, and made sure it looked as good on phones as it did on desktop. Since Dulcinea also wanted to show the locations around the world where they partnered for fruit supplies, we came up with a colorful map with informative pins that visitors could hover over.
